The Pelvic Vein & Compression Treatment Process: What to Expect

Consultation

We’ll begin with an in-depth consultation to discuss your symptoms and medical history. We’ll take the time to answer any questions you may have about the procedure and discuss pre- and post-op instructions.

Treatment

We will monitor your vital signs during the venoplasty procedure. Board-certified Dr. Vargas will insert a balloon-tipped catheter into a narrowed or collapsed vessel to reopen it and restore proper blood flow. If we’ve established a stent to be necessary, Dr. Vargas will place it at the vessel walls where the narrowing or compression occurs to keep the vein open. The balloon is deflated and removed, leaving behind a proper pathway for healthy blood flow. The duration of the procedure will vary and depend on the location and severity of the disease. Dr. Vargas will thoroughly evaluate your veins for the success of the venoplasty. Once Dr. Vargas is satisfied with the procedure results, you’ll be moved into recovery.

We’ll ensure the success of the procedure by monitoring you closely following the procedure. We may also book you for follow-up appointments.
